Sheffield has always been a city of makers — and Winnard has been part of that story since the late 1800s.

The photographs shown here capture one of our oldest workshop machines:
a Victorian?era grinder that served generations of engineers. Right up until October 2025,
it was still doing exactly what it had done since the days of steam power — grinding and
finishing butchers’ sharpening rods with the same steady rhythm it kept for more than a century.

? It’s more than a piece of equipment.

? It’s a reminder of where we come from.

Every hub, every brake component, every engineered solution we produce today carries that
same Sheffield DNA: durability, honesty, and pride in doing the job properly.

Winnard managed to save this historic machine from being scrapped and is now on display at
our Rotherham warehouse.

New Hub & Hubkit Packaging

In response to customer demand, we have developed new packaging for the range of
Winnard HUBS and HUBKITS.

From early November 2025, HUBS will be supplied in branded boxes*.

We're also making some changes to how we ship our HUBKITS to make them safer and easier to move around.  Starting in early 2026 (Q1), we will introduce new and improved pallets and packaging that should make a big difference for anyone who needs to handle them mechanically.

The goal is simple: better safety and less hassle.
