Brake Discs 

ECE R90 is a European Standard which ensures that Brake Pads and more recently Brake Discs manufactured for the aftermarket comply with R90 standards. To meet these standards, the Brake Disc must be put through a series of tests and performed to similar levels as the Original Equipment part. Winnard Brake Discs are classed as “Interchangeable” ECE R90 Definition "Interchangeable brake disc" is a replacement brake disc which has the same interface dimensions as the original brake disc but may differ from the original brake disc in terms of its design, material composition and mechanical properties. Interchangeable Brake Discs have to pass the following tests:

Brake Drums 

Thos. Winnard & Sons Ltd has been manufacturing Commercial Vehicle Brake Drums since 1930.

During this time we have machined brake drums for Original Equipment manufacturers for new axle and Original Equipment Spares.

With the introduction of our Hub range we are also able to offer complete wheel end kits.

The most popular applications are for DAF and Volvo but we can also offer Mercedes, SAF and Scania.

Our popular DAF Hubkits are available from stock in the UK & France. 

To complement our range of Brake Discs and Brake Drums we have developed a range of Hubs.

Our range is focused on problematic Truck applications such as the DAF and Volvo but we also cover other popular Truck and Trailer applications, log in to view our range and download the latest PDF.

Hubs can be supplied with or without bearing. 

ECE R90 Approved lined Brake Shoe Kits.

Most kits are supplied with repair components: Rollers, Retaining and Return Springs.

Our range of brake shoes is produced and controlled to the highest quality.

Our steel fabricated shoes are manufactured using materials that conform to both German specifications, DIN St52-3 (for the web material) and DIN Fe360B (for the table material).

Welds are Carbon Dioxide Gas Arc Welding to guarantee strength with no cracks or weakened welds to ensure no distortion of the shoe webs.

We carry an extensive range of quality-approved brake linings for most Truck, Trailer and Bus applications.

The vast majority of our linings are ECE R90 approved. Rivets can also be provided if required.

ABS Rings

ABS rings work in conjunction with ABS sensors to provide information to the Anti-lock Braking System controller about the road speed of the wheels.

If one or more wheel is found to be out of sync, the ABS controller applies pulsed pressure to prevent the wheel from locking up.

Our fitting kit range includes parts for brake pad and brake disc applications.

The majority of our brake pads are supplied complete with fitting kits, details are available in our online catalogue but additional kits are available for service repair support.

Unless otherwise advised all brake pad fitting kits are supplied in axle sets.

To compliment our extensive range of ECE-R90 Approved Brake Pads we also stock a comprehensive range of Wear Leads.

Wear leads are an integral part of the braking system, when the pad wears down to a predetermined level, the brake pad sensor comes into contact with the metal brake disc and creates an electrical circuit.

This in turn illuminates a warning light on the dashboard which informs the driver that the brakes need replacing.
